Overview - Amarkantak Tample

Amarkantak is a pilgrimage place located in the hills of Maikal in Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh. This holy place bordering Chhattisgarh has a meeting point of the hills of Vindhya, Satpura, and Maikal, whose view is astonishing. Three rivers - the holy Narmada, the Sone and the Johila emerge here from the womb of Amarkantak. A rising stream of Narmada can be seen at The Narmada Udgam Temple which is the most visited place in Amarkantak.
This temple is located at a distance of about 20 KM from Keonchi Gate and 71 KM from Achanakmar Gate of the Tiger Reserve


Overview - Mahamaya Temple, Ratanpur

Built in the 12–13th century and located at Ratanpur in Bilaspur District, the Mahamaya temple is dedicated to the Goddess Lakshmi & Saraswati. It is one of the 52 Shakti Peethas, shrines of Shakti, the divine feminine, spread across India. Kalbhairva is considered to be the guardian of the temple and his temple is located on the approach road to the temple on the highway. It is a popular belief that pilgrims who visit Mahamaya temple also need to visit the temple of Kalabhairava to complete their pilgrimage. People throng the temple during Navaratri festival, when Jyotikalash is lit to appease the mother goddess


Overview - Devrani-Jethani Temple Complex, Tala

The temple-complex village of Tala located in Bilaspur district is situated at the confluence of Shivnath and Maniari River. Most famous for its Devrani-Jethani Temples, Tala was discovered by J.D.Welger, an assistant to the well-known archaeologist Alexander Cunningham in1873-74.Archeologists believe it to be of 5th or 6th century. Devrani temple is made up of red sandstone which is predominantly of Guptan archaeological style while Jethani temple is of Kushan style. The ‘Rudra’ image of Lord Shiva was revealed in the famous excavation at the Devrani temple during the year 1987-88


Overview - Madku Dweep

Madku Dweep is an island on the Shivanatha river in the Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh. It is an island of great natural beauty marked by lush verdure and splendid waterfalls. Ruins of temples, epigraphs, coins and pottery from ancient times have been unearthed here. The name Madku stems from the fact that the island is of the shape of a frog. Besides its topography the site yields archaeological and historical remains from the 11th century. The present site is a reconstruction of the old one.
